As a teenager dealing with acne and scarring, I became passionate about finding safe and effective solutions for myself and others facing similar traumas. My own experience led me to pursue aesthetic medicine, where I now focus on advanced techniques like TCA, Nano Fat Transfer, Subcision, Taylor Liberator, Excisions, Phenol Peel, Collagen Replacement, and Ablative Laser Treatments—all crucial for achieving significant skin reconstruction.

I completed my internal medicine training at Christ Hospital in Chicago, where I gained essential skills in patient care, wound healing, and making critical decisions in high-pressure environments. During this time, I also learned how to choose the right medications and understand drug interactions, allowing me to consider my patients' overall health when developing treatment plans. This broader medical knowledge helps me go beyond just treating the skin.

My experience working in New York during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic further refined my ability to manage complex cases under pressure. Additionally, my time at the University of Illinois reinforced a holistic approach to care, preparing me to handle complicated skin conditions with a strong medical foundation. I also worked in the burn unit at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and at Kindred Long-Term Acute Rehab Center, where I gained years of hands-on experience repairing complex burns all over the body. This experience helped me develop techniques for achieving the best possible healing for my patients, as well as managing post-laser care and supporting effective pigmentation healing.

I've had the opportunity to train with several international leaders in aesthetic and reconstructive medicine, where I gained invaluable experience in treating Fitzpatrick skin types 4 and above. These trainings allowed me to develop a specialized approach for safely and effectively treating pigmentation and scarring in patients with darker skin tones. With 80% of my patients having Fitzpatrick skin types 4 and above, this knowledge has been crucial in refining my techniques.

I continuously refine my methods based on cutting-edge research and hands-on experience, ensuring that my patients receive the highest level of care. Staying independent from brand sponsorships, my focus remains on providing the best possible outcomes for patients of all skin types.

Dr. Shana Kalaria is a Southern California native. She is well-known for her surgical skills, taking pride in her work, and having the highest standards when it comes to patient care. She is very detail-oriented and makes sure her results are nothing short of incredible.

During her time in Houston, she has performed over 3000 procedures. Additionally, she has donated her time to helping children with burns and clefts on surgical mission trips to Mexico and El Salvador. Dr. Kalaria has contributed to the field of Plastic Surgery through research, speaking at both national and international meetings, and publishing articles in peer-reviewed journals. She has served as the Director of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, Assistant Professor, and Associate Program Director at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). She particularly enjoys performing rhinoplasty, facelift/necklift, blepharoplasty, breast lift/reduction, tummy tuck, and labiaplasty.
